Historic author delivers speech at annual meeting

LARNED - Twenty-two members of the Santa Fe Trail Wet-Dry Routes joined 50 members and guests from the Quivira Chapter and Barton County Historical Society at the Historic Village in Great Bend on July 25 for a presentation "Women Writers on the Santa Fe Trail" presented by Dr. Leo Oliva, a national historic author and speaker.

Pawnee Co. attorney falls to challenger

Doug McNett, director for the Center for Counseling in Great Bend, upset reigning Pawnee County Attorney John Settle, in Tuesday's Republican primary and it wasn't close. McNett had 1,012 votes (65 percent) and Settle settled for 548 votes.
