USD 495 makes personnel decisions
LARNED - The Larned USD 495 school board finalized personnel decisions for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school year in a recent meeting of the board of education. The following are approved minutes from the May 9 meeting.
Jordaan Library June Book Club
LARNED - Ready to take an imaginary trip in your arm chair? Children were invited to the Jordaan Memorial Library's June Book Club on Tuesday. The theme was "Books Take You Places." Fiction and nonfiction books were featured.

USD 495 Pumpkin Patch grant awarded
LARNED - USD 495 Fort Larned schools, in collaboration with the Larned Pride committee, were awarded a $3,500 grant from the Golden Belt Foundation to help provide educational, field trip, and expansion opportunities out at Camp Pawnee. Camp Pawnee is four miles west of Larned on 8th Street from downtown Larned.

LARNED - Singing the National Anthem comes naturally for Kayle Mollenkamp. Her mother, Dara Smythe, remembers elementary school teachers reporting their only complaint about Kayle was she would sing to herself in class. "Yes, Kayle's always loved to sing," Smythe said. LARNED - The reading program, "One World Many Stories," has started. Sixty-one young readers have signed up, including 16 middle-school readers.
Pamida helps United Way reading program
LARNED - The Larned Pamida and the Pamida Foundation are helping the United Way of Central Kansas to launch the Dolly Parton Imagination Library as a pilot program in Larned.
Larned Community Market starts Saturday
Larned Pride's Community Market opens Saturday! This year the market will be open EVERY Saturday from 7:30-10:30. Don't forget cofee is always free! The market is located across the street from Carr Auction and features several vendors from produce and crafts to jellies and soap.
