Celebrating fall birthdays
Sanger started seeing patients Monday at clinic near hospital
Bryce Young, chief operating officer, and Bill Overbey, chief financial oficer, both of Hays Medical Center, told Pawnee County commissioners at their Oct. 18 meeting that Dr. David Sanger, M.D., would begin seeing patients on Monday, Nov. 1, at the Pawnee Valley Clinic near Pawnee Valley Community Hospital. They also gave commissioners an update about the mobile nuclear stress testing, the MRI, lab, patient and employee surveys and scheduled health fairs.
Presentation explores German Heritage of Kansas
The Fort Larned Historical Society will host its Annual Meeting with a program, The German Heritage of Kansas, a presentation and discussion by William D. 13 inducted into NHS chapter at LHS
Thirteen new members for 2010, in the Larned High School National Honor Society chapter, were inducted in a ceremony Tuesday evening in the LHS Choir Room. Brittanie Miller, vice president of the chapter and a continuing member from 2009, welcomed the new members.
PVCH, FSB of Larned to host a health fair Nov. 5
Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, in conjunction with First State Bank of Larned, is hosting a Communitywide Health Fair on Friday morning, Nov. 5, from 6:30 to 11 a.m., in the First State Bank lobby and meeting room, 116 West 6th.
Larned 'Band of Indians' receives Superior rating
On Monday, the Larned High School "Band of Indians" traveled to Fort Hays State University to participate in the High Plains Marching Festival. The band has been working since August preparing their show, "The Best of Queen." They performed "Another One Bites the Dust," "Bicycle Race" and "Bohemian Rhapsody." 40 enjoy friendly competition in ‘Run for Charity’
The First "Run For Charity," sponsored by Progressive Therapy & Sports Medicine, was held Oct. 9 to benefit the Pawnee County Health Department. Organizers plan to make the event an annual one. The Pawnee County Health Department conducted a Flu Vaccination Clinic as well, inside at Progressive Therapy.

Fifty-one members and guests attended Sunday's fall quarterly meeting of the Wet/Dry Routes Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association. It was held at Fort Larned National Historic Site. The Larned community has been "wonderful, supportive, active," in its relationship with Larned Healthcare Center, Alisha Heyen told attendees at last Thursday's Chamber Coffee Hour, hosted by LHC. She said results of an August survey of the facility were good. The kindergarten classes at Hillside Elementary will be coming downtown to have a safe Trick or Treat event on Friday. Last Chance Golf Tourney is 'Great success' once again
The 20th Annual Last Chance Golf Tournament was held at the Larned Country Club on Oct. 17. The team of Jim Haynes, Keith Haynes, Brian Haynes and Glenn Salm won the championship flight. Twenty teams of four players each took part in the tourney.
