LARNED - You may see a friendly face around Barton and Pawnee County this summer as the United Way of Central Kansas, Eldercare Inc., Volunteers in Action/RSVP and the Family Crisis Center welcome Larned High School graduate Alex Lessard as their summer intern.
LARNED - The Santa Fe Trail Center Museum will host "Soda Fountains of Kansas," a presentation and discussion by Cindy Higgins at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Trail Center Museum, two miles west of Larned on K-156.
Earning first team Class 4A-Division 2 all-state honors for Larned's baseball team are catcher Tyler Stelter and second baseman Landon Erway. Outfielder Evan Skelton and pitcher Isiah Perez earned second team all-state honors. Larned is coached by Chad Erway.
LARNED - The Larned Juvenile Correctional Facility (LJCF) formally recognized the employees and volunteer of the quarter for the months of January, February, and March, 2015 - Becky Carter, Non-Uniformed Employee of the Quarter; Ric Loiland, Uniformed Employee of the Quarter; Kathy Schneider, Contract Employee of the Quarter; and LeeRoy Charvat, Volunteer of the Quarter.
LARNED - On June 2, members of the guild finalized plans for the Quilting Celebration scheduled for Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall (use NW back door) at the First Presbyterian Church, 8th and Morris.
