LARNED - Several informal events are scheduled Saturday and Sunday for U.S. Army veteran Kevin Mincio and co-cyclist Matt Sauri. Before SSG Jesse Williams was killed during combat operations in Iraq, he and Mincio served together as members of the 5-20 Infantry Regiment.

LARNED - U.S. Army veteran Kevin Mincio and Matt Sauri, an entrepreneur and philanthropist are cycling across America to provide education and help for families of fallen soldiers and to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of September 11, 2001.

LARNED - Courtland Holman, Larned chamber of Commerce director, welcomed Clark Conaway, the 7th District Commander of the American Legion to Larned Tuesday. Conaway has previously served as Vice Commander of Post 414 in Kingman for 13 years and Vice District Commander of District 7.
LARNED - Larned Pride organizers received the Larned city council's blessing to proceed with a plan to add a corn maze to Camp Pawnee in 2012. Organizers believe a corn maze will be another tourist attraction that will enhance Camp Pawnee several weeks in the fall.

LARNED - Jordaan Library's new Pathfinder automation system provides some interesting statistics. Jordaan Memorial Library owns 26,881 adult books and 12,729 juvenile books for a total of 39,610 books as of Dec. 31, 2010.
FORT LARNED - Pete Bethke of Larned remembers watching westerns on television when he was growing up as a youngster. He's always had an appreciation of history, even dating back to the bustling Fort Larned days.

LARNED - A presentation by a UMB banking official presented the apparent lowest cost and lowest interest rate for a proposed $18 million bond for the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital.
