LARNED - The Pawnee County Commission met June 13 at the Pawnee County Courthouse. The following are approved minutes submitted by Pawnee Commission clerk Ruth Searight.
LARNED - USD 495 Fort Larned schools, in collaboration with the Larned Pride committee, were awarded a $3,500 grant from the Golden Belt Foundation to help provide educational, field trip, and expansion opportunities out at Camp Pawnee. Camp Pawnee is four miles west of Larned on 8th Street from downtown Larned.
LARNED - Michael Bartz said he enjoys working with a local project that will benefit the Larned community.
LARNED - Singing the National Anthem comes naturally for Kayle Mollenkamp.

LARNED - The reading program, "One World Many Stories," has started. Sixty-one young readers have signed up, including 16 middle-school readers.
LARNED - The Larned Pamida and the Pamida Foundation are helping the United Way of Central Kansas to launch the Dolly Parton Imagination Library as a pilot program in Larned.
Larned Pride's Community Market opens Saturday! This year the market will be open EVERY Saturday from 7:30-10:30. Don't forget cofee is always free! The market is located across the street from Carr Auction and features several vendors from produce and crafts to jellies and soap. LARNED – Secretary of Corrections Ray Roberts said his favorite part of his job is visiting the employees who serve the Kansas Department of Corrections.
2011 Pawnee County Fair Schedule
LARNED - Camp Pawnee and the Fort Larned National Historic Site would improve access for pedestrians and cyclists under a $2.6 million grant application for a proposed Pawnee Valley Community Trail Project.
LARNED - Improving diets and increasing physical activity has been a major focus of the Larned Pride program.
LARNED - Pride programs in Larned and Stafford earned special recognition during a Kansas Pride Day recently at the Larned Community Garden. Honorees each received a plaque from the state Pride program on behalf of its local Pride organization.
LARNED - The Larned Chamber of Commerce and Pawnee County Economic Development Commission celebrated a year of success at its annual banquet Thursday at the Larned Community Center. Voting for the Employee and Business of the Year was done by Chamber members.

LARNED - As a way to raise awareness of Breast Cancer prevention, the Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility sold 109 breast cancer awareness T-shirts to raise funds for breast cancer awareness in their community.
