LARNED - Larned Fire Chief Bill Clapham said public safety and firefighter safety will be enhanced with the purchase of a specially-designed fire rescue vehicle.
LARNED - Revival services at the Larned Church of the Nazarene begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday March 23 with Rev. Randy Dority, Sarcoxie, Mo., as evangelist. Services are also scheduled at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and conclude at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. The public is invited to attend.

Dr. Bill Brenner presented a copy of book "I'm Praying Hard For You"- Love Letter to a Death Camp: The World War II Ordeal of Bill and Jo Brenner" to Jordaan Memorial Library. This is the personal story of a young couple whose lives were dramatically affected by when he was taken prisoner by the Japanese. It is the story of ordinary people who participated in extraordinary events. Dr. Brenner will sign copies of his book at Mystic Cove Saturday, March 12, 2011.
Jordaan Library is currently displaying a Batman collection belonging to David Hutchins, age 11, in the library display cases. Hutchins began the collection when he was 5 years old, and has continued adding to it over time. This display is just a portion of what he has collected. The internationally acclaimed U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors of Washington, D.C., will continue its long history of presenting free public performances when it appears at Larned's Middle School Gym at 3.
A new temporary exhibit about music is now on display at the Santa Fe Trail Center, Larned, featuring items from the museum's collection. Visitors can learn about the early development of music reproduction from the player piano to both cylinder and disc records. A few of the items on display include historic instruments such as an 1890's Washburn guitar, a pianoette and a violin once owned by Larned's "Comrade" Smith. Nathan Chlumsky of Larned and Michael Alnore of Rozel will be re-opening the Larned Family Israeli/Okinawan Kobra Kai Karate and Mixed Martial Arts Academy. The school is located at 505 Broadway, next to Vanley's, in Larned. Mr. Chlumsky will serve as the head instructor of the Academy and Mr. Alnore will be the assistant head instructor at the Larned Academy. LARNED - As a way to raise awareness of Breast Cancer prevention, the Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility sold 109 breast cancer awareness T-shirts to raise funds for breast cancer awareness in their community.
