The Larned Coffe was recently held at Mystic Trove Book Boutique. Vesta Hicks was honored by the American Legion Riders for all her hard work last year in promoting, sorting and packing the clothing and supplies collected for the ALR drive to help the veterans at Fort Dodge. The members of ALR are again this year, collecting for residents at Fort Dodge. You can see Dennis Wilson or any other ALR member for more information on this project. They are also sponsoring the first annual 'Man Cave Crawl', which is this Saturday. All proceeds go to the Fort Dodge project.
Activities Week of Oct. 10 - 16
The Annual meeting of the Welcome Inn was on held Oct. 6 preceding the noon meal. Along with other business related activities, an election was conducted to fill four positions on the Board of Directors. Charles Wonsetler was selected to replace Mona Marie Wysong as President. Mona Marie's term had expired. Marylee Phinney was selected to fill the one year left on the unexpired term for the Vice-President position vacated by Charles Wonsetler. Thyra Frazer was elected Financial Secretary to fill the position Rosella Sydow resigned from a couple of months ago. Incumbent Roger Haberman was re-elected.
The Quivira Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association will host Kansas Military Forts, a presentation and discussion by Leo E. Oliva at 2 p.m. on Oct.24 at the Hutchinson Public Library, 901 N. Main. The program will be held in the library auditorium. Members of the community are invited to attend the free program. The Santa Fe Trail Center, Larned, will host its annual Santa Fe Trail Tired Iron Show on Saturday and Sunday. The show will feature antique tractors and gas engines as well as classic and antique automobiles. Many new activities and demonstrations will be featured this year along with favorite demonstrations and kids' events from the past.

LARNED - As a way to raise awareness of Breast Cancer prevention, the Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility sold 109 breast cancer awareness T-shirts to raise funds for breast cancer awareness in their community.
