Don’t forget Mom this weekend and the battle of the thermostat begins

Sometimes days honoring people or groups or things can be over-rated. Many times they are simply what I call 'Greeting Card Holidays' as I swear those companies came up with the idea.

Don’t tell me I’ve nothing to do

There was a great singing duo in the 1970-80's named the Statler Brothers. One of their more famous tunes was FLOWERS ON THE WALL which included these lyrics in the chorus:

They just don’t get it

The NCAA and CBS have announced that the viewership for the entire NCAA Men's basketball tournament and the championship game between Villanova and Michigan fell far below past years. Together they offered that, "The 30 percent drop is likely due to a combination of a relatively non-compeitive game and its airing on a cable network instead of CBS."

On being humbled

Don't do it. Don't ever enter a bracket pool for college basketball that includes women. I won't. It is an invitation for disaster, for being humbled. Lord knows, I don't need to be humbled any more!

Hairdos, tattoos and squeak throughs

The great things about March Madness is that there is something for everybody. If you are a real basketball nut then the games themselves are all you need but, if you are a casual fan, then it is the peripheral stuff that you dote on. Like hairdos and tattoos. We nuts pay more attention to the squeak throughs.

Why not talk more basketball, it still March, after all

Basketball is the talk of the town right now with the run by the Barton men's basketball team. It sure has been a fun ride the Cougars and Coach Craig Fletchall have taken us on so far.

Taking pot shots

I'm not the first to say it but let me be the LOUDEST. TBS did a terrible job with the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Selection Show. The production was amateurish. The announcers stumbled through it. Their lips and the sound didn't match. The announcing teams in alphabetical order was anticlimactic. Need I go on? The NCAA should scrap these folks for next year and return to a tried and true formula!
