Yakking. The dictionary defines it this way: To talk, especially uninterruptedly, and idly. That's exactly what this pebble in my shoe is all about.

Charlie's Inside Corner

Talk about identity theft! How would you like to be voted the Number 1 men's college basketball team? As Rodney Dangerfield joked, "Who'd wanna be me?" Get voted #1 and get beat. That's been the pattern. Tuesday West Virginia destroyed newly anointed Baylor 89-68. The same horror show has happened to Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina and Villanova, among others, this year. Next up? The Kansas Jayhawks. Fortunately that old nemesis, Oklahoma State has to visit Lawrence Saturday so KU should be able to hold onto that ranking for a little while.

Call your agent. It's that time of year again when football coaching jobs are doing their annual "musical chairs" thing. Trouble is, mostly they just trade places. It's really hard for the new "kids on the block" to squeeze into the game.

Another goal was to go unbeaten at home in the Big 12, an achievement the Wildcats look to begin when they host Texas on Friday at 7 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on ESPNNews.

What I didn't get for Christmas

Christmas has come and gone. Santa took the cookies and gave me the leftovers. He also DID NOT give me any good bowl games to watch the day after Christmas! The fare included the ST.PETERSBURG BOWL, QUICK LANE BOWL, and the INDEPENDENCE BOWL. Six teams and not a winning record among them. That's a little like showering with your socks on. You can do it but it just doesn't feel right!
