HHS sends wrestlers to finals at Bob Kuhn Classic

The Hoisington High School varsity wrestling team participated in the Bob Kuhn Sr. Prairie Classic Wrestling Tournament this past weekend at Hays. The team sent five wrestlers to the finals where senior Brandon Ball at 138 lbs. won the Championship match to help propel him to win the Tournaments Most Outstanding Wrestler Award. Sophomore Jonathan Ball, 145 lbs.lbs.; freshman Christopher Ball, 152 lbs.; senior Chance Boor, 195 lbs.; and sophomore Landen Urban, 285 lbs., all finished second. Hoisington High School wins Stafford Duals Tournament

The Hoisington High School Wrestling team ran its dual record to 11-0 this past Thursday evening, and picked up the Championship Plaque from the Stafford Duals Tournament. The team was outstanding all night as they defeated Bluestem 70-7, Chaparral 65-6, Lincoln 76-6, Nickerson 75-3, and Stafford 63-16. Those in attendance were able to see some outstanding matches on the evening as there were several State Place winners wrestling each other.

Lashley inducted into NJCAA Track and Field Hall of Fame

Lyles Lashley has received an unbelievable amount of coaching honors in his nearly 20-year career. The most prestigious of them came when he was chosen to be a member of the most recent class to the National Junior College Athletic Association Track and Field Hall of Fame released this past week. He was one of eight people to earn the honor and the only coach in the group.

Sharp Shooters win tourney

The sixth grade Great Bend Sharp Shooters won the Dodge City Shoot-Out MAYB Basketball Tournament on Jan. 10. They went undefeated in the tournament beating Hays Arsenal, Liberal and Hays Tribe. Players from left to right: Cal Dunekack, Cole Streck, Jack Stelter, Matt Huslig, Drew Nicholson, Sam Hall, Kyler Feist and Devin Guesnier. Coaches are Mike Dunekack and Ryan Streck.

Both the Great Bend boys and girls bowling teams started off their 2015 WAC seasons with home wins against the visiting Dodge City Red Demons. The Panther boys dominated the entire match as they earned all 11 points possible in the contest. The Panthers were led by senior Jeff Meitler who had an exceptional day.
