HAYS – There was more March madness in Hays this past weekend as members of the Storm Special Olympics teams took part in the 35-annual Special Olympics State Basketball and Cheerleading Competition.
The 12-year-old volleyball team, Six Pack, traveled to Topeka for a tournament and placed second out of 10 teams. The team only lost two out of 13 games.
The Great Bend Stealers, a fifth- and sixth-grade basketball team, claimed first place in the Hays MAYB basketball tournament on March 5. Their overall record this season was 17-4.
The Claflin Wildcats third- and fourth-grade basketball team, which finished its season on March 6 with a record of 23-4, took first place at the St. John, Nickerson, Hutchinson MAYB and Hays Big Brothers Big Sisters tournaments.
OLATHE - The Heart of America Athletic Conference recently released its 2010-11 all-conference men's basketball team.
The Great Bend USD 428 Education Foundation's 13th annual benefit golf tournament will be held on Friday, April 29 at the Club at StoneRidge.
The Barton Blazers are coach by Troy Griffith assisted by Dale Kuhlman. The team recently took second at the third-grade tournament in Kingman.
The Great Bend Falcons fourth-grade basketball team concluded their season last weekend by taking first place in the Hays City Little Shootout Tournament.
The 2011 baseball tryouts for the Great Bend Chiefs and the Great Bend Braves is set for Sunday, Feb. 27, at Kirkman Activity Center at Barton Community College.
Fifth-grade youth volleyball club "Six Pack" place first in their home tournament in Ellinwood on Feb. 6, competing against 5th and 6th grade teams. This team is currently ranked fifth in Kansas and Missouri.
POWELL, Wyo. - Northwest Kansas Technical College attended the NJCAA Wrestling Regional Tournament in Powell, Wyo.

HAYS - The Hoisington Middle School wrestling team finished in third place at the Hays Kennedy Tournament on Saturday.
Barton Community College is hosting a winter baseball camp starting Jan. 8-9 and continuing every Saturday or Sunday in January, depending on which age group the child is in.
