TOPEKA - Thirty-one Great Bend wrestlers set out to compete with 1,400 other wrestlers from the state in the final tournament of the Kansas Kids State Wrestling Championships on March 29-30 at the Kansas Expocentre.

On March 22, Breanna Ridgeway and Natalie Garza traveled to McPherson to battle in the Girls State Tournament. Both girls won their brackets convincingly. Breanna opened up with a 14-0 win in her first match, and followed that up with 2 pins. Natalie won both of the matches she wrestled with pins.
Central Kansas Roller Girls hosted their first scrimmage of the season. Derby girls from Junction City, Wichita, Topeka, and Salina all met on Saturday at Skateland in Hutchinson for a derby match. Great Bend Kids Wrestling Club traveled to Pratt on Saturday to compete against other western Kansas teams. The kids battled all day long at the Sub-Districts tournament and finished 3rd place out of 23 teams.
