Predictions

While you are still guffawing about my prediction that Great Bend would beat Dodge City 27-24, remember that "no man is a prophet in his own country". So, you ask, "Am I from Mars?" The 51-7 win that Dodge City hung on Great Bend is only a bump in the road for this pompous prognosticator!

At the Mike: Post season baseball is upon us

Does anyone else think the Kansas City Royals just got better for the playoffs with Greg Holland getting hurt? Wade Davis has been the most dominate relief pitcher in baseball the past two seasons. Davis taking over the ninth inning is a good thing. The only question is whether the Royals 7th and 8th innings can stay solid.

Charlie's Inside Corner: Troubles by the score

There is a notable Country song that was recorded by numerous artists including Ray Price, Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakam that includes the lyrics, "I've got heartaches by the number, troubles by the score." It's hard to imagine any major college football program that has more troubles than Kansas but there just might be……………………………and the Jayhawks play them this Saturday. Rutgers!

Charlie's Inside Corner: Cut, Johnny, cut!

Maybe Johnny Cueto should cut his hair. Do those "Dreads" not agree with the Kansas City heat and humidity? Does Johnny even have a barber? All interesting thoughts while pondering the slide down the unwanted slope of pitching futility that has attached itself to Johnny Cueto since he joined the Royals.

Charlie’s Inside Corner: Curious about the cat

I'm curious about the Cat that is the Kansas State Wildcat's Band Director. What was he thinking when he had his marching band do a routine that got interpreted as some kind of obscene gesture towards or about a Kansas Jayhawk?
