COUNCIL BLUFFS - The Barton Community College volleyball team found the trip to Iowa this past weekend to be rough going as the Lady Cougars dropped all four matches of the Reiver Classic hosted by Iowa Western in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Building upon the momentum of a late 2013 season charge, winning seven of their last nine matches, the 2014 Barton Community College volleyball team hit the practice courts just 18 days before their first match of the 2014 season.
Great Bend will be hosting the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) softball and baseball tournament for the second year from April 29 through May 3, 2015. The City of Great Bend and the Great Bend Recreation Commission have worked hard to help host this championship baseball and softball tournament at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

Crews have been busy over the past week preparing for the arrival of more than a dozen NAIA softball and baseball teams as Great Bend is set to host the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference's (KCAC) baseball and softball championships at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
The Barton Bandits took first place in the GBRC NBC Hap Dumont Points Tournament this past weekend at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The Bandits went 4-0 sweeping the competition to win the tournament.
Thompson Gymnastics Competition Team is finishing out their season strong which runs from January to May. The Competition Team consisted of girls of the ages 6 - 15 with skills from Level 1 to Level 7.

Monday evening, just as Wisconsin took a 3-2 lead over Duke in the national championship basketball game, the electricity flickered three or four times and the house went dark. "Oh what cruel trick of nature could this be?" Surely it will be back any moment I thought, after all, this IS the championship game that's on my giant flat-screen tv! Horror of horrors, it didn't happen!
Will he or won't he? Will Wichita State's Gregg Marshall leave a good situation for another, another that pays more? That scenario is being repeated all across the country as athletic directors "dance with the stars" trying to entice them to coach at their respective schools.
