Track, national marks fall in NHRA Lucas Oil event
Competition ended Sunday for the ninth running of the NHRA Lucas Oil Division V event in Great Bend on a cold and windy May afternoon where not only track records were set, but also national records were recorded at the S.R.C.A dragstrip during the event.
GBMS track team concludes season
The Great Bend Middle School track and field team concluded its season on Tuesday after seven meets this season.

The start of the NHRA Lucas Division 5 race season kicked off this weekend with the National Hot Rod competition at Great Bend's S.R.C.A dragstrip. The Sunflower Rod and Custom Association is hosting the event, which concludes today after two days of qualifying, for the eighth year.
Thompson Gymnastics competes at AAU event
WAMEGO - Thompson Gymnastics of Great Bend recently competed in the AAU Missouri Valley Championships.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS TRACK
There were 24 Storm athletes taking part at Garden City and all came away with ribbons, and/or gold, silver or bronze medals. In all, there were five teams at the meet representing Garden City, Great Bend, Hays, Colby and Ulysses. The local team has three more weeks of practices before heading to the state track tournament June 3-5 at Wichita State University.
NHRA drag racing series makes stop in Great Bend this weekend
The National Hot Rod Association West Central Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series will be competing at Great Bend's S.R.C.A. Dragstrip starting on Friday and concluding on Sunday.
Hoisington Middle School seventh-grade girls take first
ELLSWORTH - The Hoisington Middle School track team competed in Ellsworth on Tuesday. The seventh-grade girls took first place by a 32-point margin with 125. The seventh-grade boys, as well as the eighth-grade girls and boys took second place.
