The 12-year-old local volleyball team ended their season on April 9-10 in Kansas City, Mo. at the 12-year-old Regional Championship Tournament.
The Great Bend Kids Wrestling Club competed at the Kids State Wrestling Championships in Topeka on March 26-27.
The Kansas Barnstorming Tour will be playing in Great Bend on Sunday, April 17, at 4 p.m. at the Kirkman Activity Center at Barton Community College.

HAYS – There was more March madness in Hays this past weekend as members of the Storm Special Olympics teams took part in the 35-annual Special Olympics State Basketball and Cheerleading Competition.
The 12-year-old volleyball team, Six Pack, traveled to Topeka for a tournament and placed second out of 10 teams. The team only lost two out of 13 games.
The Great Bend Stealers, a fifth- and sixth-grade basketball team, claimed first place in the Hays MAYB basketball tournament on March 5. Their overall record this season was 17-4.
The Claflin Wildcats third- and fourth-grade basketball team, which finished its season on March 6 with a record of 23-4, took first place at the St. John, Nickerson, Hutchinson MAYB and Hays Big Brothers Big Sisters tournaments.
OLATHE - The Heart of America Athletic Conference recently released its 2010-11 all-conference men's basketball team.
The Great Bend USD 428 Education Foundation's 13th annual benefit golf tournament will be held on Friday, April 29 at the Club at StoneRidge.
The Barton Blazers are coach by Troy Griffith assisted by Dale Kuhlman. The team recently took second at the third-grade tournament in Kingman.

LARNED - While most of the world is focused on the Oscar Pistorius murder trial (What is it about a guy that runs on blades instead of feet that creates so much interest?) a lot is happening that might escape you.
LARNED - I'm still hanging on to the basketball season though the collegiate finale Monday evening signaled that, indeed, baseball season is here.
