Bunting to get on base

Now that we've mentioned bunting, there's sure a lot of ball players that can't do it properly. My old coach, Whitey Welch-a subject for another time- always taught us, "You let the ball hit the bat, you don't hit the ball with the bat when you bunt." Nothing in baseball is as exciting as a perfectly executed bunt, especially in a "squeeze bunt" when the runner on third is coming home.

A shot across the bow

Kansas University Chancellor Doug Girod just fired a "shot across the bow" and Athletic Director Sheahon Zenger just happened to be standing on the bow! Dead hit. Or as Donald Trump would say, "You're fired!" In case you need an interpreter for all of that, it means, WIN SOME DAMN FOOTBALL GAMES!

Didja know?

- Didja know that Kansas State leads the Big 12 schools with having at least one player selected in the NFL draft in each of the last 25 years? That streak was extended this year when the San Francisco 49'ers picked D.J. Reed. The streak started in 1994 when the NY Giants picked Thomas Randolph, a cornerback and the San Diego Chargers picked wide receiver Andre Coleman. Coleman, by the way, is now a coach for the Wildcats.

Don’t forget Mom this weekend and the battle of the thermostat begins

Sometimes days honoring people or groups or things can be over-rated. Many times they are simply what I call 'Greeting Card Holidays' as I swear those companies came up with the idea.

Don’t tell me I’ve nothing to do

There was a great singing duo in the 1970-80's named the Statler Brothers. One of their more famous tunes was FLOWERS ON THE WALL which included these lyrics in the chorus:

They just don’t get it

The NCAA and CBS have announced that the viewership for the entire NCAA Men's basketball tournament and the championship game between Villanova and Michigan fell far below past years. Together they offered that, "The 30 percent drop is likely due to a combination of a relatively non-compeitive game and its airing on a cable network instead of CBS."
