Advance tickets available for Friday GBHS football game

Great Bend High School Panther football will host Andover at 7 p.m. Friday. Reserved seating is not available since this game is regulated by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. However, to help reduce lines at the ticket gates, general admission tickets will be sold in advance. One may buy them at the GBHS activities office on Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to noon.

NHRA Summit Series Points Race

The Sunflower Rod and Custom Association (SRCA) Drag strip welcomed back the NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Race Series to Great Bend on Saturday. The season comes down to the Sportsman Class with Brett Beck (Beloit) tied in points with Mark Walton (Hutchinson). The paradox of grass roots racing pitted Beck's '86 Mustang against Walton's '99 Miata. Although Beck was not present he did buy his tech card which awarded him 20 "show up" points.
