Dodge City DCK Cowboys soccer team

The Dodge City DCK Vaqueros, meaning DCK Cowboys, soccer team took part in a tournament in Denver recently. There were 16 teams category U15 taking part and the Vaqueros beat three teams, advanced to the semifinals but lost by penalty kicks. The team is coached by Evaristo Cabrera and Rogelio Villalon from Dodge City. The team is part of Alianza de Futbol Hispano, an American organization dedicated to the development and support of amateur Hispanic soccer.

Great Bend Braves win opener

SALINA - Brooks Nichols delivered the game-winning single to spark the Great Bend Braves past the Salina Hawks 9-8 in the Class A Zone baseball tournament. Great Bend plays McPherson in Tuesday's winner's bracket final. Great Bend is the site of the Class A State Tournament starting July 20 at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
