Quicksilver 14 and under capture 1st place at Dodge City

The Great Bend Quicksilver softball team won the 14 and under division at last weekend's Dodge City Spring Fling Fastpitch Tournament. The Quicksilver team went undefeated at 5-0.

Local golfer, Chuck Wilson, nails hole-in-one

Golfer Chuck Wilson made the shot of his life on Saturday, April 25 at Stonridge gold course. Wilson hit a hole-in-one on the 18th hole with his wife, Meg, as a witness. The divet in the bottom of the photo shows just how close Wilson was from hitting the hole directly.

KCAC tournament kicks off with Community Night

Great Bend will be hosting the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) softball and baseball tournament for the second year from April 29 through May 3, 2015. The City of Great Bend and the Great Bend Recreation Commission have worked hard to help host this championship baseball and softball tournament at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

The Barton Bandits took first place in the GBRC NBC Hap Dumont Points Tournament this past weekend at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The Bandits went 4-0 sweeping the competition to win the tournament.

Monday evening, just as Wisconsin took a 3-2 lead over Duke in the national championship basketball game, the electricity flickered three or four times and the house went dark. "Oh what cruel trick of nature could this be?" Surely it will be back any moment I thought, after all, this IS the championship game that's on my giant flat-screen tv!
