Bat Cats win series over Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Great Bend Bat Cats defeated the Oklahoma City Indians 10-4 Sunday to win two-of-three games. The team returned to Great Bend at 4 a.m. Monday after a 270-mile trip.

Thunder on the Plains champions crowned

Champions were crowned Sunday for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at SRCA Dragstrip in Great Bend and the NHRA West Central Division that included Comp Eliminator, Super Stock and the rest of the classes that encompass the nationwide series.

It reminds me of the rumors that whirl around a high school in the wintertime as to who the "Big Man On Campus" is taking to the prom. The final result has been, "He ain't taking no one, he's staying home!"

Kansas Wesleyan wins KCAC softball title

Kansas Wesleyan pitched its way to the KCAC Softball Championshop by beating Tabor College 2-0 in Sunday's first championship game at the Great Bend Sports Complex. Coyote pitcher Jordyn Parsons beat McPherson 3-2, St. Mary 2-0 and Tabor 2-0 in the tournament. Parsons threw a three-hitter with three strikeouts.
