The Great Bend Boom gained a split of two games against the Garden City Wind with a 4-0 victory Wednesday at Al Burns Field. The Boom (7-4) play the Topeka Train Robbers Thursday and Friday at home. The Boom travel to Topeka Saturday and Sunday.

Great Bend will be hosting the 2016 KSHSAA 2A-1A State Baseball Tournament at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The state baseball tournament is scheduled for May 26-27. This tournament is sponsored by the City of Great Bend and the Great Bend Recreation Commission. Bill Snyder, head football coach at Kansas State University, will be the featured speaker at the Central Kansas Catbacker Banquet and Dinner on Wednesday, June 8, at Stoneridge Country Club in Great Bend.
