Larned's Skelton powers Indians to split

LARNED - Larned's Haley Skelton drilled a three-run homer and drove home five runs to spark the Indians to a 5-2 Central Kansas League softball victory over Lyons. The Lions won the nightcap 9-7 to salvage a split.

LIBERAL - Two Great Bend Middle School girls won two events - 7th grader Emilia Diaz in the 800 (2:44.08) and 1,600 (5:57.41) and 8th-grader Olivia Rugan in the 800 (2:36.96) and 1,600 (6:18.12) at the Liberal Middle School track meet.

Larned sweeps CKL golf titles

KINGMAN - Larned's Colton Massey shot 2-over par 74 to defend his Central Kansas League golf championship. Larned won the team title (331) by defeating perennial champion Hesston (342) at Kingman's Eagles Golf Course.

Liberal baseball sweeps Great Bend

LIBERAL - Liberal's baseball team overpowered Great Bend 11-1 and 14-2 with timely hitting and efficient pitching to sweep a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Redskins roughed up Great Bend's top two pitchers Logan Perry (2-4) and Bryce Lytle (2-2) with big innings.

St. John Tigers sweep CPL golf

STAFFORD COUNTY - St. John's Cole Kinnamon birdied four holes and shot 8-over-par 78 to earn medalist honors and lead the Tigers to the Central Prairie Golf Championship at the Stafford County Country Club. Kinnamon birdied Nos. 5, 7, 9 and 12 to help offset six bogeys and three double bogeys.

Haven softball sweeps Hoisington girls

HAVEN - Haven outlasted Hoisington 7-4 in a wild opener and beat the Cardinals 15-0 in the nightcap in Friday's Central Kansas League doubleheader sweep. Haven (15-3) secures second place in the CKL and Hoisington (8-9) plays CKL champion Pratt (15-1) at home Tuesday.

HUTCHINSON - Pawnee Heights golfer Roger Klenke shot 12-over-par 83 to finish runner-up at the Hutchinson Trinity Tournament Thursday at Carey Park Golf Course. Klenke birdied the par 5 12th hole and shot nines of 46 and 37.
