STERLING - The Great Bend High School boys tennis team completed pool play at the Sterling Invitational on Tuesday before inclement weather forced the meet to end early.
HAYS - Three-time state champion Brandon Ball of Hoisington High led the Cardinals to first place in the Bob Kuhn Prairie Classic with a first-place finish. Brandon Ball (25-0) placed first at 138 pounds with a 13-0 victory over Dalton Henbsley of Ellis High School.
The No. 1 ranked Class 2A Central Plains girls beat league rival St. John 49-36 Thursday to qualify for Friday's championship game of the Hilltop Hoops Classic.
EMPORIA -- Topeka Seaman avenged last year's Class 5A state tournament loss with a 63-42 victory over Great Bend's girls in the Glacier's Edge Tournament at Emporia.

DODGE CITY – Class 2A Central Plains stunned Class 6A Shawnee Mission South 54-38 to advance to Saturday's championship game of the Dodge City Tournament of Champions. The Oilers (10-1) outscored South 30-16 in the second half.

DODGE CITY - Dodge City's girls handed Great Bend its first Western Athletic League loss 55-35 and Dodge City's boys completed a sweep with a 50-36 victory over the Panther boys.

Defending Mid-Winter Classic champion St. John (9-0) drew the top seed, but innovative scheduling gives the unbeaten Tigers three games next week. St. John will open against the Pratt-Macksville loser at 4:45 p.m. But the Tigers will still play in Friday's second semifinal game at 8:15 p.m. against the Pratt-Macksville winner, which is scheduled Tuesday. The other bracket matches Ness City against Nickerson and Larned versus winless Wichita West (0-8) in Thursday's games.
