CLAFLIN – After leading all afternoon, the Central Plains Oilers trailed Spearville 32-28 after the Royal Lancers converted its fourth 2-pointer in the Eight-Man I state football quarterfinals.
MINNEAPOLIS - Minneapolis scored the game-winning touchdown with 19 seconds left to stun Hoisington High 17-14 Saturday in the Class 3A football playoffs. Hoisington finishes with a 9-2 record as co-champion of the Central Kansas League West Division.
CLAFLIN - The toughest challenge for state-ranked eight-man football teams is finding a way to stay sharp despite playing until halftime in most games.

HAYS - Hoisington's Ball brothers got off to a rousing start in the Class 3-1A state wrestling championship. The trio of Ball brothers - three-time state champion Brandon Ball, Jonathan Ball and Christopher Ball - all won three matches to qualify for the Class 3-1A state finals Saturday night. No trio of brothers had ever qualified or won state wrestling titles in the same year.
