St. John Tiger becomes Cowley Tiger

St. John High School all-stater Cole Kinnamon signs to play basketball at Cowley College in Winfield. Kinnamon is joined by his father, Clint Kinnamon; his mother Tara Kinnamon, and his older brother Kade Kinnamon, a member of Kansas State's basketball team. Cole Kinnamon ended the longest post-season game in state history with a 35-footer that beat Lawrence Seabury Academy 52-51 in the 2A semifinals. Cole Kinnamon played for two state championship teams and a state runner-up team at St. John. Kinnamon has qualified for the 2A state track meet in Wichita.

Panther girl swimmer places second, third

TOPEKA – Great Bend's Camryn Dunekack finished as Class 5-1A state runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle, the best finish in school history at Saturday's Class 5-1A state swimming championship. Dunekack earned first-team all-state honors.

Pole vault leader leads Cardinals

RUSSELL - Hoisington's brother tandem of Jonathan Ball won the pole vault (15-61/4) and Christopher Ball won the 110-meter hurdles (16.35) as both brothers qualified for the Class 3A state track meet in four events at the 3A Russell regional.

Concordia wins baseball regional

HOISINGTON - Concordia pitcher Cole Larsen struck out 17 Russell batters in a 1-0 shutout of the Broncos in the 4A Hoisington baseball regional championship game. Larsen has signed to play baseball at Cowley County.

MAIZE - Maize's amazing Mikalya Toth scored seven goals and dished out three assists to spark the Eagles past Great Bend 11-1 in Tuesday's Class 5A soccer regional. The game ended at halftime on the 10-goal rule.
