KSHSAA Changes Senior High Girls Postseason Cross Country Distance (Effective 2015)

In recent years there has been ongoing discussion regarding a potential change in distance for KSHSAA high school girls cross country. Surveys of coaches and athletic directors have reflected increasing support to increase the girls' race distance from 4K to 5K in KSHSAA postseason competition. During the October 2014 KSHSAA Regional Administrator meetings, this was a topic of conversation in part, due to a letter from the U.S. Office of Civil Rights notifying KSHSAA of a complaint OCR received.

All Star East edges West 40-38 in Division I 8-man

BELOIT- Central Plains' Layne Bieberle officially closed out his high school career Saturday with nine catches for 112 yards and two touchdowns but it wasn't quite enough as the All Star East team squeaked out a 40-38 victory over the West at Beloit's Trojan Field.

CPHS’s Bieberle, Lamatsch selected to play in Saturday All Star game

BELOIT- The 30th Annual Kansas 8 Man All Star Football games will be played in Beloit on Saturday, June 6th. The Division I game will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Trojan Field on North Hersey Avenue. Pre-game will begin at 1:30 p.m. with introduction of the players.

Cardinal softball’s Schremmer, Jonas selected to All-League

Hoisington junior pitcher Karisa Schremmer and fellow junior Marisa Jonas were selected to the CKL second team and honorable mention lists in an announcement Tuesday morning. Jonas was selected as an honorable mention catcher. The duet helped lead the Cardinal softball team to a 13-10 season record following a 13-3 loss Sunday to Girard at the state tournament in Topeka.

CPHS’s Rolfs wins silver at state in triple jump

WICHITA- Central Plains' Taylor Rolfs finished with a second place slot in the girls 1-A triple jump at last weekend's state track and field championships. Rolfs posted a leap of 35-09 to win the silver. Rolfs recorded another top ten finish in the 300 meter hurdles with a seventh place finish in a time of 49.43.

Larned catcher will compete in KBCA all-star game Wednesday

MANHATTAN - Larned catcher Tyler Stelter will compete in the 2015 Kansas Baseball Coaches Association All-Star baseball game at noon Wednesday at Kansas State's Tointon Family Stadium.

Hoisington baseball lists four to CKL honors

Hoisington pitcher Brad Reif, second baseman Braiden Crites, and utility player Hunter Hanzlick have been listed second team All-Central Kansas League honorees for the 2015 season. Pitcher Jacob Warnken was tabbed as a CKL honorable mention.

Ball brothers take gold and silver at state

WICHITA- It came down to a classic case of brother against brother at this weekend's state track and field championships. Twelve inches made the difference as Hoisington's Brandon Ball took top honors in the boys pole vault at 15 ft. Brother Jonathan came in second at 14 ft. while Christopher Ball placed sixth with a vault of 12-06.00.

Pittsburg Colgan wins state 2-1A baseball title

Pittsburg Colgan delivered a quick punch taking advantage of six errors in a 15-0 state championship victory over Medicine Lodge Friday at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The game was called after three innings by virtue of the mercy rule.
