The Central Prairie League has proven its strength after sending four of its nine high school boys basketball teams to a state tournament.
Dalton Bell, out of Hoisington High School represented the South at the first North vs. South District Four Senior Classic Wrestling Tournament.
Great Bend High School was well-represented on the All-Western Athletic Conference girls basketball team, with seniors Lexie Brack, Cassidy Tutak and Kalie LeShore garnering first-team honors.
Great Bend High School landed two players on the All-Western Athletic Conference basketball first team - Greg Hildebrand and Dakota Ellis - and two others on the second team in Will Gray and Jace Bowman.
The Great Bend High School bowling teams have eight bowlers on an All-Western Athletic Conference team after the 2011 season that sent both the boys and the girls to the Class 5-1A state tournament.

NESS CITY - Central Plains football coach Chris Steiner and Ness City coach Chris Bamberger were side-by-side talking about the weather at the Central Prairie League meeting this week.
ST. JOHN - St. John High School basketball all-stater Dean Wade signed his letter of intent with Kansas State University Wednesday. Wade has led St. John to back-to-back state basketball championships.
Great Bend High School's Jayce Brack signed a letter of intent to throw for the Kansas State University track team. When asked what was going through his mind from the time he received the acceptance letter to when he made it all final and it became a reality he said, "It felt good to finally make it official.
