Ellinwood's Kyle Blakeslee was named to the Class 2A academic all-state team after finishing in 19th place at the state cross country meet.

LARNED - The Hoisington High School boys' basketball team didn't seal the deal until the final seconds of the championship game of the Keady Basketball Classic on Saturday night.
LARNED - The Hoisington High School girls' basketball team cruised to a 52-37 win over Spearville in the championship game of the Keady Basketball Classic on Saturday night in Larned.
EL DORADO - The Great Bend High School swim team finished in fourth place at the El Dorado swim meet on Friday night.
LARNED - The Hoisington High School girls' basketball team beat Otis-Bison 40-30 in a semifinal game of the Keady Basketball Classic on Friday night.
LARNED - The Hoisington High School boys' basketball team earned a win against host Larned in the semifinal game at the Keady Basketball Classic 68-35.
LARNED - The Otis-Bison High School girls' basketball team fell to Kinsley to finish in fourth place at the Keady Basketball Classic on Saturday.
PRATT - Whitney Tilley hit a go-ahead basket in the lane with 10.4 seconds left in regulation, lifting Pratt High School to a 33-32 victory over Great Bend on Friday night.

HOISINGTON- The Hoisington Cardinal softball team struggled to a 1-5 start this year. This past Friday, the Cardinals were able to turn it around at home. After two come-from-behind wins over the defending Class 4A Division II State Champions from Pratt, the Cardinals moved their record to 3-5.
HOISINGTON- The Hoisington Cardinal baseball team lost 15-2 to the Pratt Greenbacks in the first of two games at Hoisington on Friday.
WICHITA- The 4X400 relay team of Jeffery Muiruri, Mason YellowWolf, Ty Yager and Antonio Carrasco ran a season best 3:29 in the Elite Division and posted a first place finish to help the Panther track and field team to four of their seven gold medals at this week's Shocker Pre State Challenge.
RUSSELL- Russell's girls track and field team dominated the competition at Thursday's home meet with a first place finish and a final team score of 98 points out of five teams. Hutch Trinity, Ellsworth, Hoisington and Hays-TMP-Marian rounded out the rest of the competition with scores of 86, 67, 61 and 59.
GARDEN CITY- Turning to its senior leadership Thursday night, the Garden City girls soccer team scored three goals within a three minute span in the second half and added another score for good measure late in the period for a 4-0 shutout victory over visiting Great Bend.

The Barton Community College women's basketball program proudly announces the signing of Great Bend High School's Regan Unruh to its 2015 class of Lady Cougars on the first day of national signings.
Great Bend senior Jeff Mietler was selected to be on the All Kansas State Bowling team. The Panther captain ended the season with an average of 218. At the conclusion of the regular season, Jeff was named the Most Valuable Player in the WAC and was also named to the All WAC First Team. Mietler anchored the Great Bend boys to a regional runner-up finish and a third place finish at the state tournament.
HILLSBORO- The Hoisington Cardinals baseball team outlasted the Hillsboro Trojans Tuesday squeaking out an 8-6 win at Hillsboro.
ANDOVER- Morgan Kottas was perfect for the game hitting 3 for 3 including a pair of doubles in a 5-3 loss to Andover in the first round of a Tuesday doubleheader. The Panthers then went on a 12-run tirade in the second game and shutout the Trojans, 12-0 to split the series.

LIBERAL- Redskin ace Cole Evans pitched six innings allowing four hits and a run to lead Liberal to a 3-1 edging over visiting Great Bend in the first part of Tuesday's twin bill. The Panthers launched a late-game attack but could not overcome an early deficit and fell to Liberal 8-6 in the second game giving the Redskins the two-game sweep.
ELLINWOOD- Great Bend boys jv track finished with 77 team points and a fourth place finish out of nine teams at Tuesday's junior varsity meet in Ellinwood. Meanwhile the Panther girls jv finished sixth with 38 points.
