HOISINGTON - Great Bend's No. 1 doubles Katherine Snapp and Audrey Muth and Hoisington's No. 1 singles Jacquelyn Gonzales captured first place at Monday's Hoisington junior varsity tennis tournament. Great Bend (23) placed first and Hoisington (17) was runner-up.

Panther runner wins back-to-back

HUTCHINSON - Great Bend Middle School 7th-grade runner Kaiden Esfeld (5:48) captured his second consecutive cross country race at the Hutchinson Invitational. Esfeld also won the Great Bend Invitational. The middle school boys placed fourth as a team.

Panther girls capture JV title

GARDEN CITY - Great Bend's No. 2 doubles Priscilla Ramirez and Madison Huslig captured first place at the Garden City junior varsity tournament. Ramirez and Huslig defeated Ulysses 6-5 (7-0) in the finals and finished with a 3-0 record.

Great Bend girls tennis soaring

DODGE CITY - With a mix of young and experienced players, the Great Bend girls tennis team continues to surprise. Great Bend pushed a Western Athletic Conference rival for first place for the second consecutive tournament. The Garden City Buffaloes edged the Panthers 65-62 in Tuesday's Dodge City Tennis Invitational. Dodge City edged the Panthers 38-36 in Saturday's Great Bend Invitational and Garden City placed third (35).

Panther JV volleyball places third

The Great Bend Panther junior varsity volleyball team finished third at Saturday's Scott City Tournament. In pool play, the Panthers defeated Lakin and Scott City. Colby defeated Great Bend in the semifinals before beating Garden City to finish third. Team members are Brynn Boxberger (40), Alyssa Keller (1), Kayli Shull (6), Mara Fletchall (13), Jayden Johnson (3), Delaney Buehler (16), Kylee Sandy (7) and Kaylee Unruh (5). The ball girl is Lydia Schaub. Kurt Schaub serves as junior varsity head volleyball coach.

Central Plains tennis places first

HOISINGTON - The Central Plains No. 1 doubles team of Hannah Beran and Zoe Potter won three matches against St. John, Scott City and Hoisington to place first at the Hoisington Tournament. Central Plains scored 27 points to place first - two points ahead of Scott City.
