ST. JOHN – Defending Class 2A state champion and No. 1 ranked St. John rolled past No. 2 ranked Central Plains 52-33 in a Central Prairie League basketball victory.
The odds of Great Bend's girls defending their Western Athletic Conference title was fading fast.
ROZEL – The South Central High School boys rolled past Pawnee Heights in a league basketball game Friday.
The Great Bend boys and Panther girls will seek a basketball sweep tonight. Kody Crosby, Trey Ibarra and Shade Wondra have paced the Panther boys (2-11, 0-3 WAC), who have exceeded 50 points one time this season.

The Hoisington Cardinal wrestling team continues to have news worthy announcements about its staff and team members. This past week the team learned that High School Assistant and Middle School Head Coach Anthony Leiker was named Middle School Coach of the year by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association.
MANHATTAN – The championship matchup between defending Class 2A state champion St. John High School and arch-rival Central Plains was an old-fashioned street battle – brother-against-brother.

MANHATTAN – Central Plains roared past No. 2 ranked Olpe 69-44 Friday to spoil the Eagles' unbeaten season and qualify for the Class 2A state basketball championship.
