The band members for the upcoming 39th Kansas Shrine Bowl reported on Tuesday for five days of preparation, leading up to Saturday night's game at Welch Stadium on the Emporia State University campus.Over 4,700 young people have performed in the Kansas Masonic All-State Marching Band since its inception in 1984.

TOPEKA - The Kansas State High School Activities Association reports a proposal to modify Class 4A, 3A and 2-1A for football classes failed to receive the 146 votes needed in favor to constitute a majority of the 290 impacted schools. The final tally indicated 101 schools voted in favor of the proposed changes.
Great Bend girls soccer fell 10-0 to visiting Manhattan Monday at Cavanaugh Fields. The loss drops Great Bend to 3-10-1 on the season. The Panthers are in Salina this evening for non conference action againt Salina South.
NEWTON- For the third year in his Great Bend career, Grant Harris will be making a trip to the state tennis tournament. For several weeks the Panther senior has been battling tendonitis but it never proved to be an issue at Monday's regional tournament in Newton.
