Depenbusch polls silver at Wichita SE

WICHITA- Kerby Depenbusch has yet to finish a race this year where he is not in the top three. The Great Bend sophomore's second place finish at Saturday's run at Wichita Southeast is Depenbusch's second straight silver medal showing and his third consecutive top three performance.

GARDEN CITY- Following a 28-28 stalemate after three quarters the Garden City Buffaloes broke away with a 14-0 run in the final period handing Great Bend a 42-28 loss on a cool, windy Friday evening on the western Kansas plains.

GARDEN PLAIN- In three matches against three state-ranked teams the Great Bend volleyball Panthers came up short falling in two-set decisions Thursday to undefeated Garden Plain (25-12), Rose Hill (25-15, 25-19) and Cheney ((25-19, 25-22).

GBMS football Panthers split at Garden City

GARDEN CITY- The Great Bend Middle School eighth grade football team improved to 3-0 Thursday with a 30-6 victory over Garden City Ken Henderson in the first road game for GBMS. The Panthers totaled 287 yards of offense. Gage Fritz recorded a 38-yard touchdown run in the victory and added an 84 yard kick return into the end zone for good measure. Dalton Miller had a pair of big scoring runs for Great Bend including 60 and 70 yard hauls. The Panthers converted all four of their two-point conversions.

GBMS runners finish at top of Hays Invite

HAYS- Great Bend seventh graders Taylor Lindberg and Aubrey Snapp placed as the top two runners at Thursday's Hays Invitational. Linberg came in with a first place finish of 6:26.5 while Snapp was just two seconds off from Linberg with a second place time of 6:28.3. Jordan Stukey (6:37.7) placed fourth just two seconds behind Hays seventh grader Olivia Diane Rankin.

Moyers perfect in second straight tour

DODGE CITY- It's another undefeated mark for Great Bend senior Macy Moyers. Following last weekend's unbeaten round robin performance in No 1. singles Moyers sailed through Thursday's competition at Dodge City. Moyers quickly shut down a pair of DC opponents in two 8-0 decisions against Siarra Grice and Leah Stein. Moyers then outlasted Brook Forirash, 8-4 in the final round to finish 3-0 for the day.
