Panther golfer places first ar Russell

RUSSELL – Great Bend golfer Kelby Titus captured medalist honors with a 73 to place first at the Russell Golf Invitational Thursday. Titus also competed Friday at the Hutchinson Golf Invitational at Carey Park and shot a 9-over-80 to tie for 56th.

Larned softball splits twin bill

HESSTON – Larned's softball team beat Hesston 19-14 before losing the second game 13-7 in a Central Kansas League doubleheader. The Indians played without injured ace starting pitcher Mattie Glover. Larned (8-8) plays at Smoky Valley May 4.

SALINA - Great bend's double-winner Jesus Sanchez swept first place in the 800 (2:17.53) and 1,600 (5:04.54) to lead the Panther boys to first place in Monday's Salina Central junior varsity track meet. The Panthers scored 144 points to beat runner-up Dodge City (97).

Panther golfer places eighth at Dodge City

DODGE CITY - Great Bend's Kelby Titus gave away strokes on the final two holes to finish eighth with a 6-over-par 77 at Dodge City Invitational at Mariah Hills Golf Course. Titus is ranked fourth in the Western Athletic Conference with three WAC tournaments remaining. Titus has posted scores of 76, 77 and 77.
