Great Bend runners off to state

LAWRENCE - Great Bend's Kerby Depenbusch will return to Class 5A state cross country at Rim Rock Farm Saturday after placing seventh in Class 5A state cross country last year.

Liberal defeats Great Bend soccer in regional

LIBERAL - Liberal scored five goals in 15 minutes to roll past Great Bend's soccer team 6-2 in Tuesday's Class 5A soccer regional. Brian Galindo and Carlo Daniel Franco scored Great Bend's goals. Galindo beat goalie Ramon Hernandez on a penalty kick. The Panthers finish with a 6-11 record.

The Central Plains volleyball team has been perfect. The top-seeded and top-ranked Oilers are 38-0 heading to Friday's Class 2A state volleyball tournament at Emporia.

Hoisington routs Lyons to cruise into playoffs

LYONS - Tailback Hunter Hanzlick and Steffan Dolechek each scored two touchdowns as Hoisington steamed past Lyons 40-7 to cruise into the Class 3A football playoffs. The Cardinals (9-0, 3-0) will play Cimarron at home Tuesday in the Class 3A playoffs.
