Oilers celebrate state tennis championship

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Central Plains Lady Oilers Janae Ryan and Keeley Hipp won the 3-1A state tennis title Saturday on a cool, but beautiful fall day in Kansas City. It marked the first individual tennis championship for Central Plains, which includes the history of Claflin High School.

Mustangs pose obstacle for Panthers

The Great Bend Panthers passed their first Class 5A District 6 football test with flying colors, a 53-21 victory over Newton. The Salina Central Mustangs failed miserably, losing a 21-point lead in a 42-35 loss to rival Salina South. Great Bend beat Salina Central 27-13 in 2011.

Great Bend golfers 11th at Class 5A state

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Allison Neeland led Great Bend's girls in the Class 5A state golf championship with a score of 106 at Dub's Dread in Kansas City. Neeland highlighted the day with a birdie 2 at the 16th hole.

Great Bend finishes 3rd in WAC Tournament

Great Bend finished third in the Western Athletic Conference volleyball tournament at Great Bend. Garden City (5-0) and Hays High (4-1) finished first and second, and the Indians pushed the Indians to three sets.
