Larned will be the site a Class 4A-Division 2 softball regional May 19. Teams competing will be Hoisington-Central Plains, Hays-Thomas More Prep, Larned and Nickerson. State champion Pratt defeated Larned 1-0 in the Class 4A regional final last year.
HUTCHINSON-Shade Wondra and Bryce Lytle went 2-for-3 and helped lead an 8-hit attack as the Panthers opened the 2015 campaign with a 5-3 win over Andover in the first of a Tuesday doubleheader. Hutch High took advantage of six errors and rallied with a 12-run payload in the bottom of the fifth to defeat Great Bend, 13-3 in the second contest.

HAYS- Great Bend boys track and field recorded a meet-best 234 team points to win the gold at Saturday's Alex Francis Classic. The Panther girls claimed a second place finish with 153 points behind Hays who posted 193 points for the day. Seven teams were represented in boys and girls competition.

For the first 20 minutes of the Central Kansas High School All-Star Game Sunday it was the Rachel Doll show. The Ellinwood High School senior dominated the opening 20 minutes and with that led her team to a 93-87 win at the Barton Gym on the campus Barton Community College.

ST. JOHN - St. John's Dean Wade has earned three consecutive high school basketball titles heading to Kansas State University.
GARDEN CITY- Turning to its senior leadership Thursday night, the Garden City girls soccer team scored three goals within a three minute span in the second half and added another score for good measure late in the period for a 4-0 shutout victory over visiting Great Bend.

The Barton Community College women's basketball program proudly announces the signing of Great Bend High School's Regan Unruh to its 2015 class of Lady Cougars on the first day of national signings.
Great Bend senior Jeff Mietler was selected to be on the All Kansas State Bowling team. The Panther captain ended the season with an average of 218. At the conclusion of the regular season, Jeff was named the Most Valuable Player in the WAC and was also named to the All WAC First Team. Mietler anchored the Great Bend boys to a regional runner-up finish and a third place finish at the state tournament.
HILLSBORO- The Hoisington Cardinals baseball team outlasted the Hillsboro Trojans Tuesday squeaking out an 8-6 win at Hillsboro.
ANDOVER- Morgan Kottas was perfect for the game hitting 3 for 3 including a pair of doubles in a 5-3 loss to Andover in the first round of a Tuesday doubleheader. The Panthers then went on a 12-run tirade in the second game and shutout the Trojans, 12-0 to split the series.

LIBERAL- Redskin ace Cole Evans pitched six innings allowing four hits and a run to lead Liberal to a 3-1 edging over visiting Great Bend in the first part of Tuesday's twin bill. The Panthers launched a late-game attack but could not overcome an early deficit and fell to Liberal 8-6 in the second game giving the Redskins the two-game sweep.
ELLINWOOD- Great Bend boys jv track finished with 77 team points and a fourth place finish out of nine teams at Tuesday's junior varsity meet in Ellinwood. Meanwhile the Panther girls jv finished sixth with 38 points.

Great Bend forward Keely Ireland belted out three goals while fellow sophomores Araceli Delgadillo and Melani Garcia scored a goal each to lead the Panthers to a 6-1 win over visiting Liberal in Tuesday afternoon play.
BUHLER- Grant Harris swept through the first round of singles play as the Great Bend tennis team posted a second place finish at Tuesday's quadrangular in Buehler. Buhler won the quad with 27 team points, while the Panthers finished with 12.
