Panther wrestlers place first at Douglass

DOUGLASS - Great Bend's Cody Liles (132) and Keaton Sander (138) captured first place at the Douglass Wrestling Tournament Saturday. Three-time state qualifier Liles (8-0) beat Wichita South's Dalton Powell 1-0 in the finals after a 4-3 semifinal decision over Augusta's Josh Moore. Liles is ranked fourth in Class 5A.

GBMS Battle at the Bend Wrestling Tournament

Great Bend Middle School wrestlers went 4-1 for second place Saturday at the first ever Battle at the Bend wrestling tournament. Five wrestlers went undefeated for the day going 5-0- Brantly Baldwin 80; Carsyn Schooler 90; George Weber 115; Gage Fritz 141; and Kevin Miramontes 180. "This was a very tough tournament and I'm very pleased with how far we have come this season." said Head Coach Norbert Muth.
