MANHATTAN - If you're looking for a turning point in Great Bend High School's girls' basketball matchup with Manhattan, glance no further than first-half action during Saturday's matinee session at the MHS gymnasium.
After playing three games in three days last week in the season-opening Hays City Shoot-Out, the Great Bend High School varsity basketball teams play back-to-back games against Class 6A schools, starting tonight and finishing up late Saturday afternoon.
LARNED - With 30 seconds remaining in the high school basketball game, Gavin Vink sank a 3-pointer to put Ellinwood ahead of Kinsley 53-52 in a consolation-bracket game of Larned's Keady Basketball Classic.
Great Bend girls soccer fell 10-0 to visiting Manhattan Monday at Cavanaugh Fields. The loss drops Great Bend to 3-10-1 on the season. The Panthers are in Salina this evening for non conference action againt Salina South.
NEWTON- For the third year in his Great Bend career, Grant Harris will be making a trip to the state tennis tournament. For several weeks the Panther senior has been battling tendonitis but it never proved to be an issue at Monday's regional tournament in Newton.
