Coach Brent Biggs knew if his Barton baseball team was going to make it past the opening weekend of the Region VI tournament, his team was going to have to limit its mistakes and take advantage of Kansas City Kansas' mistakes.
In conjunction with its Booster Club, the Barton Community College Athletic Department will be hosting their annual end-of-the-year celebration banquet today. The event celebrates and recognizes the year of Cougar Athletics with each team being recognized, as well as, the accomplishments of its individual student-athletes. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union on Barton's campus with dinner followed by the recognition. Open to the public, the banquet is free to current Booster Club members with a $12 charge to non-Booster Club members at the door.
Heavy rain sweeping through the state has postponed the Region VI Division I Softball Tournament. The double-elimination tournament at El Dorado's East Park is now scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 5, with the No. 9 ranked Barton Community College softball team's title defense beginning at 5 p.m. against Garden City Community College.
