One loss, more than others, was more stinging to the Barton Community College basketball team in conference play. Four of the five losses came to the top three teams in the Jayhawk West – teams that have only lost to each other.
With the Jayhawk West title pretty much out of reach the focus for the Barton Community College women's basketball team has turned to finishing in the top four in the Jayhawk West and with it a home game to start Region VI play.
This past weekend marked the halfway point of the indoor season for the Barton Community College women's track team. The Cougars traveled to Lubbock, Texas for the Masked Rider Invitational on the campus of Texas Tech University.

The bus ride home from Concordia has not involved much celebrating. In fact, it had been seven years since the Barton Community College women's basketball team enjoyed the ride back to Great Bend following a win over Cloud County.
Some portions of a schedule are tougher than others. Thanks to a make-up reshuffling earlier this year, the Barton Community College women's basketball had about as tough a 3-game stretch as anyone in the nation will play this season.
On a night when Gene Butler, a member of the highest scoring team in school history, was inducted into the Barton Sports Hall of Fame, the current Cougars showed him they can score a few points as well. Barton hit triple digits for the third time in seven conference games in a 100-90 win over Pratt.
