Mato wins Region VI women’s cross country

The Region VI Championships lived up to its billing. Several ranked teams battled it out for the region title while Barton standout Lydia Mato did her thing in winning the meet.

Laari just missed Region VI title; Barton finished sixth

It was a region stacked with ranked teams – three in the Top 10 and five in the Top 20. After placing near the bottom last season the improvement was vast this season. Especially consider that Barton standout Samson Laari nearly won the meet, taking second by the narrowest of margins.

Cougar women make it back-to-back West wins

Some portions of a schedule are tougher than others. Thanks to a make-up reshuffling earlier this year, the Barton Community College women's basketball had about as tough a 3-game stretch as anyone in the nation will play this season.

Mato sets school record in 5000m

It was another banner day on the track for Barton Community College standout Lydia Mato. The sophomore shattered the Barton women's record for the 5000m indoor by an astonishing 16 seconds to lead the Cougars during the Holiday Inn Invitational on the campus of the University of Nebraska.

It has been a rugged five days for the Barton Community College women's basketball team. About as tough a 5-day stretch as any team in the nation will see this season. It came to a conclusion Wednesday night with a loss Hutchinson, 73-45 at the Barton Gym.
