Young Living Oils Raindrop Technique Training

Kathy Beckman of Norton, and Pam Jackson, Cristy Suchy, and Constance Winkler, all of Great Bend, attended the Young Living Oils Raindrop Technique Training in Dallas, Tx on October 7-9. This technique was inspired by the Native American Lakota tradition and patented by D. Gary Young. The seminar was attended by over 1,400 people from all over the world. Dr. Young was on hand to teach this effective technique used for energizing and balancing the body.

Robert L. Mullen, FACHE, the CEO of Hospital District #1 of Rice County in Lyons, has been awarded the Charles S. Billings Award by the members of the Kansas Hospital Association. He will be honored on Nov. 10 during the KHA Annual Convention and Trade Show in Topeka.

Seventh Day Adventist School acquires new computer lab

The Seventh Day Adventist Church and School has been a part of the Great Bend community for many years. However, after a fire burnt down the school in the early 1990s, it has taken a lot to keep things afloat. "The local church was originally founded in 1948 at 12th and Madison," says board chairperson Doris Reile-Kneller. "Then in the early 80s, we moved to our current location west of town and added the school."

Heart Association declares GBRH Emergent Stroke Ready

Great Bend Regional Hospital has been documented as able to adequately care for a stroke patient brought to the facility, the American Heart Association and the Kansas State Stroke Task Force announced last Wednesday. GBRH was added to a list that already included Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington as hospitals that provided the necessary documentation to be named as Emergent Stroke Ready as part of the Kansas Initiative For Stroke Survival (KISS).

Brown Mackie students experience hippotherapy at Rosewood Ranch

Two Brown Mackie College occupational therapy assistant students spent four days last week involved with the equine therapeutic riding program at Rosewood Ranch. It's the second consecutive year that Rosewood Ranch has welcomed first-year OTA students from the Salina college to its award-winning therapeutic ranch so that the students can complete fieldwork required for their OTA practicum. Food Bank donation

On a recent afternoon visit to the Barton County Food Bank the volunteers were scurrying about trying to assist local residents who were overflowing the waiting room, many with children in tow, hoping for emergency food assistance. It clearly demonstrated the urgency of ongoing needs still existing for local families in Barton County as well as the critical commitment needed from the community for ongoing financial support for this worthwhile endeavor.

Completely Kids combines storefronts with The Gallery

Completely Kids announced the store will be combining efforts with The Gallery in downtown Great Bend, starting June 1. The new shop-within-a-shop will still carry all their customer favorites.
