First Kansas Bank is giving back. During the holiday season for every new loan and deposit account opened, First Kansas Bank made a donation to the Golden Belt Foundation "Pay It Forward Fund", administered by the DARE program. This fund is available to local schools where teachers and administrators use the money to purchase clothing, supplies, and other basic necessities that arise for students in need.

MISSION – Special Olympics Kansas (SOKS) Healthy Communities Program is a recipient of a $25,000 grant from Walmart. A presentation was held in Topeka as the Walmart Kansas State Giving Program awarded nearly $610,000 to Kansas nonprofits. Sen. Pat Roberts, Walmart executives, associates and 13 nonprofits attended the ceremony.
A study by The American Journal of Sports Medicine calculates that nearly 10 percent of Olympic athletes will compete with an injury sustained during competition or in training leading up to the Olympic Games. Sports with the highest rate of serious injury include bobsled, ice hockey and alpine freestyle skiing. Most frequent injury sites include head, spine and knees, with the most common types of injuries being bruising, ligament tears and muscular sprains.
