The 23rd Annual Benefit Golf Tournament, Dinner, and Auction will be held on June 17. The golf tournament will feature a four-man scramble at Lake Barton Golf Course, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. through 12:50 p.m. Cost to enter the tournament is $90 per player or $360 per team. Registration includes green fees, golf cart rental, lunch on the course (sponsored by QS Nurses Kansas), a player gift, and a ticket to the dinner and auction later that evening. Eileen Phelps, Sr. vice president and chief services officer of Credit Union of America (CUA), announced this week that CUA has been approved and is ready to offer grants to first-time homebuyers through the Federal Home Loan Bank's Homeownership Set-aside Program. If ownership of the home is kept for at least five years the homeowner then has no responsibility to pay the funds back to the program. Not all financial institutions are approved for this program. Those approved, like CUA, are limited on how many grants are offered per month.

The competition team at Euphoria Dance Center has been making heads turn from Wichita to Colorado Springs in the past three months. Starting with the Bravo Regional Dance Competition at Maize March 5-6, and returning for the Stage One National Dance Competition at Maize High School April 9 and 10, to Talent on Parade Regional Dance Competition April 22-23 at Colorado Springs, Colo., and finally the Talent on Parade Regional Dance Competition at Century II at Wichita, Great Bend dancers have been racking up trophies and awards at a frenetic pace. The program began in 2001 and has generated over $1,036,700 throughout the past 15 years for schools and students in Kansas, Colorado, and Missouri.

More than a dozen people work in the Imaging Department at Great Bend Regional Hospital, serving thousands of patients each year. The physician-owned hospital offers six different modalities in Radiology, with each modality requiring the technologists to learn different physics, plus special anatomy features. While difficult, this doesn't stop the hospital's staff from pursuing continuing education whenever possible.
