Great Bend Regional Hospital leads the charge in Heart Disease Awareness Initiative

As a leading healthcare provider in central Kansas, Great Bend Regional Hospital was proud to lead the charge in raising awareness for heart disease in women on Friday, Feb. 5, which was National Wear Red Day. The nationwide initiative is organized by the American Heart Association as part of American Heart Month. According to the nonprofit organization, heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year, killing approximately one woman every 80 seconds. However, 80 percent of cardiac and stroke events may be prevented with education and action.

Jacam Chemical in Sterling has been assigned a patent (9,249,651) developed by four co-inventors for a "method and apparatus for downhole application of treatment chemicals in gas wells." The co-inventors are James C. Baker of Anthony, Harlan G. McCormack of Wichita, Gene F. Brock of Conroe, Texas, and Gene H. Zaid of Sterling.
