Gavilon Grain, LLC today announced it has acquired a 981,000-bushel grain facility in Silica. The Silica facility primarily handles wheat, corn, milo and soybeans, with 60-car shipping capabilities on the Kansas-Oklahoma railroad.

Nine Rosewood Ranch horse riders competed in the National Snaffle Bit Association World Championship Show Aug. 14-15 at Ford Truck Arena in Tulsa, Okla. For the second time in three years, Rosewood Ranch brought home a World Championship Trophy from that event to central Kansas.

Great Bend native and President and General Manager of Sunflower Broadcasting, Inc., Joan Barrett, was named one of Wichita's Top Women in Business for 2014. Barrett was among only 20 women who received the honor Aug. 26, at a special presentation hosted by the Wichita Business Journal.
