WASHINGTON - Total motor gasoline deliveries, a measure of consumer gasoline demand, moved up 2.4 percent from July 2015, to average nearly 9.7 million barrels per day. Compared with June 2016, total motor gasoline deliveries increased 0.3 percent. For year-to-date, total motor gasoline deliveries increased 2.5 percent compared with year-to-date 2015 to a record level just above 9.3 million barrels per day.

The drastic drop in crude oil prices in 2015 and 2016 have had a significant impact on the small businesses that make up the Kansas oil and natural gas industry. But low crude oil prices are not the long-term story or trend.

WASHINGTON – This week, U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs Member Joe Manchin (D-WV) joined the American Petroleum Institute (API) to officially launch the Veterans Energy Pipeline – www.veteransenergypipeline.com – a new web based tool that will help connect current members of the armed forces and veterans to civilian employment opportunities in the oil and natural gas industry.
In response to a dramatic increase in U.S. oil production over the last several years, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) decided in November 2014 to dump low-cost oil into the global markets in an effort to drive down the price of oil and punish U.S. oil producers. As a result, crude oil prices have fallen by about 50% over the last year.
