Six students completed grant-funded internships in Fort Hays State University's College of Business and Entrepreneurship during the fall 2014 semester, the first in a new internship program for the college.
North Central Kansas Technical College (NCK Tech), with campuses in Beloit and Hays, announcse new students who have been accepted into career technical education programs for the 2015-2016 academic year. While applications are accepted until the Fall 2015 semester begins, early admission ensures the student is enrolled in their program of choice. Students are eligible for early admission by submitting their ACT or Compass Test scores and visiting either campus. Those with qualifying test scores submitted by Dec. 1, are immediately accepted into their selected program until the program capacity is met.
Washburn University has released the names of students who were named to the fall semester President's Honor Roll. To be named to the list, a student must be enrolled in at least 12 graded semester credit hours and attain a semester grade point average of 4.0.
Brogan Kirmer, of Claflin, is a candidate to receive a bachelor of science in nursing degree at Washburn University commencement exercises at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 12 in Lee Arena, Petro Allied Health Center, on the Washburn campus.

The number of Kansas high school students opting not to send their ACT test scores to any colleges or universities has increased from 19 percent in 2004 to 47 percent in 2014, according to a recent report by ACT. The study shows that this increase is consistent with national trends, as 48 percent of U.S. high school students withhold ACT scores.

Ottawa University announces that Alissa Heilman, of Great Bend, has been named to the Dean's List for the fall of 2014. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must be degree-seeking, have earned a minimum of 24 hours over the preceding two semesters at Ottawa University, and earned a semester grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
NCK Tech announces the Honor Roll list for the Fall 2014 semester. To qualify for the honor roll, students must achieve a 3.0– 3.5 GPA.
Last Friday, Jan. 23, Hoisington Middle School students recognized National Handwriting Day by competing in a handwriting contest. Teachers Karisa Kaiser and Shari Blase collected samples from students, and also awarded a prize to the student that could guess the highest number of teacher handwriting samples.

Sarah Jean Neeland, Great Bend, a 2012 graduate of Great Bend High School, has earned a place on the fall 2014 Deans Honor Roll at Fort Hays State University. She is a senior majoring in elementary education. The Deans Honor Roll includes undergraduate students only. To be eligible, students must have enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and have a minimum grade point average of 3.60 for the semester.
