Tabor College has announced that 180 students have been named to the Dean's List for their accomplishments for the Fall '10 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List a student must fit into one of three categories based on his or her GPA: Highest Honors, 4.00-3.85; High Honors, 3.849-3.70; and Honors, 3.699-3.50.

U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) is accepting applications for nominations to the United States Service Academies. The academies include the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. Those selected will enter the academies in June 2014.
At the invitation of Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, Ethan Kaufman, Russell High School, Taylor Fry, Great Bend High School and Conner Birzer, Ellinwood High School, were selected to attend the 30th Annual Governor's Scholars Awards Program on May 5, in Topeka.
Great Bend Middle School announces the April and May Above and Beyond Winners. Each of these students was nominated by their teachers because they have gone above and beyond the call of duty in becoming a good citizen of GBMS. Wrapping up the 12th year of the annual ABC Program, Sunflower Bank contributed $6,910 to schools and students in the Great Bend and Ellinwood area. Since the inception of the ABC Program in 2001, Sunflower has contributed $52,038 to schools and students in the Great Bend and Ellinwood area.

The Barton Community College Foundation honored Dr. Mary Davidson Cohen with the 2013 Distinguished Service Award during Barton's 43rd commencement on Friday. Kans for Kids announced its 2013 scholarship recipients. Any child who has received assistance from Kans for Kids is eligible to receive two scholarships from the organization upon graduation from high school and each year following while they pursue higher education.
Barton Community College student Terra Hull, shown with President Dr. Carl Heilman, is inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society on Thursday evening in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel at Barton Community College. Alpha Sigma Lambda is primarily for non-traditional students. Its aim is to recognize the special achievements of adults who accomplish academic excellence while facing competing interests of home and work. Barton had 36 new members in 2013.
