Barton Community College has named 230 students to the Dean's List for the spring 2011 semester.
September is National Childhood Cancer Month and Great Bend Middle School would like to help Kans for Kids by collecting aluminum cans through the month.
Barton Community College hosted the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp July 29-30 at Camp Aldrich. The camp is sponsored by Rotary District 5670 for high school juniors and seniors within the district who are nominated and sponsored by their local Rotary Clubs.
Barton Community College honored nine employees during an all-college forum on Thursday Feb. 27, recognizing them for their years of service to the college. Awards were presented for 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 years of service.
Hutchinson Community College has announced the honor rolls for the Fall 2013 semester, including grades through the end of the interterm session. 1,288 students have been honored with selection to the two honor roll listings, with 648 achieving the Vice President's Honor Roll with at least a 3.5 grade point average for the semester.
Out of the past 54 Midwest Model United Nations Conferences in St. Louis, Fort Hays State University has participated in 53. This year, 19 students, representing Cuba and the United Kingdom, addressed a variety of world issues.
Application deadline for Boys State of Kansas 2014 Academy is March 22. Anyone can sponsor a boy's stater this spring. In addition to families, delegates are sponsored by American Legion Post 180, civic organizations, businesses, clubs and interested individuals. The deadline for sponsorship is also March 22.
The Sterling College chapter of Phi Beta Lambda has been hard at work to raise money for this year's national competition in Nashville, Tenn. To raise funds, they have created and designed a custom deck of playing cards that feature photos of former Sterling College presidents, athletic teams, academic departments, buildings and campus clubs.
High school students interested in law enforcement will once again have the opportunity this summer to see what law enforcement training and careers are like through the Cadet Law Enforcement Academy. The Cadet Law Enforcement Academy program is hosted by the Patrol, and sponsored by the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. Cadet Law this year will be held from June 8-June 13.
