Kansas Wesleyan Dean’s Honor Roll announced

SALINA - One-hundred and fifty Kansas Wesleyan University students were named to the Dean's Honor Roll for the Fall 2017 semester. Full-time students with a semester grade point average of 3.25-3.74 and no incompletes are listed on the Dean's Honor Roll at the end of each semester.

Sweet rewards at Riley Elementary

Riley Student Council sponsored by Tanner Dahlke, Dana Wilson and Jeri Lynn Patry held a pop tab collection contest. Riley elementary students collected over 100 pounds of pop tabs that will be delivered to Ronald McDonald House in Wichita. Mrs. Loving's second-grade classroom won an ice cream party by having the most pop tabs by weight. This is the first year for Riley's Student Council.

Hoisington Debaters take second at Russell

HOISINGTON - The Hoisington High School Debate Team placed second out of ten schools competing at Russell recently. The team had a combined 11-4 win/loss record, just behind first place Dodge City with a 12-3 record. Hays was third with a 10-5 record.

‘WinterDance ‘17’ displays a variety of dance styles

MANHATTAN - New choreographic works by Kansas State University dance faculty were performed by students at "WinterDance '17," which was presented Thursday through Saturday at Chapman Theatre in Nichols Hall at KSU.

BCC voice students perform in voice festival

Barton Community College voice instructor Glenna Gaunt entered eight of her voice students in the Tabor Voice Festival on Saturday, Oct. 28, in Hillsboro. The vocal competition included the divisions of high school freshmen and sophomores, high school juniors and seniors, and college freshmen and sophomores, with the category of either classical or musical theater. Students were required to perform one memorized song in either of the disciplines.

KMTA District 5 Auditions

Kansas Music Teachers Association, a state-wide organization of private music instructors, held District 5 Auditions on Oct. 7 at Barton Community College. The District 5 piano auditions were adjudicated by Brett Janssen of McPherson. Allen To and Amy To competed in the piano category, They both received I ratings which qualified them to compete at the State KMTA Auditions in Topeka, on Nov. 4. Amy To will was unable to move on to State KMTA due to a conflict with KMTA District Band. Allen To competed in the Sophomore Level HIgh School Piano Category receiving an Honorable Mention.
