New academic year begins at FHSU with Fall Convocation

The Golden Belt Community Foundation recently awarded a scholarship from the Ryan Hugh Dunlap Memorial Scholarship Fund. Ryan's family created a scholarship fund for students wishing to enter the fields of education and/or sports medicine. As a graduate of Great Bend High School, Barton Community College, and Southwestern College, Ryan was tirelessly dedicated to his students and athletes. Kay Leadership Camp

Approximately 275 Kays and Kayettes from across the state of Kansas gathered at Rock Springs 4-H Center, in Junction City, on July 25-29, for a "SUPERFANTASTIC" session of KAY (Kansas Association for Youth) Leadership Camp. The KAY Camp is a character-building, leadership-training program directed by the Kansas State High School Activities Association and is designed for all students in grades 7-12.

Jessica Leiker and Abbie Schuster, from Great Bend, have begun their hands-on, clinical training at the KU School of Medicine-Wichita before receiving medical doctor degrees. For the last two years, Leiker and Schuster studied biological sciences in Kansas City.
